consumer unit upgrade

What is a consumer unit?

The consumer unit, or fuse board, is arguably the most important part of your electrical system. It distributes electricity throughout your property and provides protection.help you with all your electrical needs.

When do you need to upgrade?

Consumer unit age

If your consumer unit is looking dated, it may need upgrading to meet current building regulations and safety standards. If it is a rewireable fuse wire type, upgrading would be of enormous benefit. Unsure of age? Get in touch, and we can let you know.

Additional load

Year after year, we add more devices to our properties, such as EV chargers, air conditioning, heat pumps and solar panels. Before installing, you must check that your existing fuse board can handle the additional load, or you may require an upgrade to increase capacity.

House refurbishments or extensions

If you're extending or carrying out extensive refurbishment of your property, this is the perfect time to future-proof your electrical installation.

What is involved?

To specify the replacement consumer unit for your property, we will review your existing installation and carry out an EICR if required. We will always future-proof, allowing spare capacity for new additions in years to come.

The installation will involve disconnecting and removing the old unit, installing the replacement and reconnecting. Once connected, we test and provide an Electrical installation certificate and building control notification. These documents will certify that your new consumer unit complies with the current edition of BS7671.
